紅葉や銀杏が鮮やかに色づく境内で、小僧さんが箒を手に、一生懸命に落ち葉を掃き集めています。

ようやくできた落ち葉の山へ、尻尾を高く掲げた一匹の三毛猫が勢いよく飛び込みました。せっかく集めた紅葉は辺り一面へ舞い上がり、小僧さんは思わず「こらっ！」と声を上げます。

そんな一人と一匹の騒動を、立派な袈裟をまとった住職は少し離れたところから穏やかな笑顔で見守っています。静かな古寺の秋景色の中に、猫のいたずらが巻き起こす小さな物語を描きました。

A peaceful autumn day in the garden of an old temple in Edo-period Japan—until a mischievous calico cat joins the scene.

Surrounded by brilliant red maple leaves and golden ginkgo foliage, a young temple apprentice carefully sweeps the fallen leaves into a neat pile.

Just as his work is nearly finished, a calico cat charges straight into the pile with its tail held high, sending colorful leaves flying everywhere. Startled and frustrated, the apprentice scolds the playful culprit.

Nearby, a senior Buddhist priest dressed in traditional robes watches the commotion with a gentle smile. Against the quiet beauty of the temple garden, this playful encounter captures a small and humorous moment between people, cats, and everyday life in old Japan.
